Membership is how Houston takes ownership of its own media. Members get hands-on access to HMS studios, gear, and producer training, early invitations to screenings and forums, a vote in the community priorities that guide our programming, and a standing welcome at the table where the next chapter of HMS is written. Tell us how you'd like to take part and our team will reach out.
Every gift keeps cameras rolling, training free, and Houston's voices heard around the world. Your support sustains independent community media that no one else will fund.

Sponsors a youth media student for a weekend of hands-on training.
Underwrites the post-production of a neighborhood story start to finish.
Powers an entire community forum — venue, crew, and live broadcast.
Houston is forty years of stories that never made the evening news — the corner shop that became an institution, the block that organized itself, the elder whose memory holds a whole community. HMS exists to carry those stories. Tell us yours, and a producer may reach out to help bring it to screen, radio, or page.
Step inside a working community media house. HMS interns rotate through production, editing, broadcast operations, and newsroom workflows alongside veteran producers — building a real reel and real relationships. Applications are reviewed on a rolling basis. Email a short note and your interests to info@hmstv.org.
From middle-schoolers to graduating seniors, HMS youth programs put professional cameras, microphones, and mentorship in young hands — turning students into storytellers who can document their own neighborhoods. Explore current cohorts and how to enroll on our Programs page.
However you join — as a member, a volunteer, a donor, or a storyteller — you become part of a forty-year legacy reaching from Houston to the world.
